Il Marciatore

Now elderly, Abdon Pamich retraces the places of his childhood, reopening the memory of the exodus from Fiume in the aftermath of the Second World War. Following the arrival of the new Yugoslav regime, fear forces his family to flee: first his uncle and father, then Abdon and his brother Giovanni, who cross the border alone. Amid refugee camps, poverty and mistrust, Abdon finds in race walking a form of resilience and rebirth, ultimately transforming his personal journey into Olympic gold in Tokyo.
